![]() Id also like to see A “recce mode,” this would be good too, to allow you, as a rally crew to pre-run the stages at a limited speed and actually make your own notes for the stages to absolutely maximise the playability of the game.Ī career based “spectator mode” would be good too, so it borrows from elements of the WRC+ HUD, to allow you to see how AI compete in those stages.Ĭustomisable pace note styles - for those who know enough about rallying to know how we can get the best out of our performances. Road sections must be driven to applicable road rules of the country in question, and feature dynamic events like breakdowns and requirement of roadside repairs where necessary. I’d like to see real world map data be used in the stage creation, like we’ve seen from DR1&2.0 as well as actual drivable road sections between stages. Here is hoping the next Codies Rally game takes the best from all. Not only can it be punishingly tough, it is a totally free labor of love that has a huge active international community. That said, Dirt Rally 2.0 is where I go for realistic enough rally sim with awesome graphics and style. This kind of thing is more like training than fun, though the satisfaction this terrible driver gets by keeping a car alive to finish a 30 km stage is unmatched. It is not a game, exhausting, and I cannot stop going back. Additionally for AWD and more modern cars, dips, holes in the road, jumps (ESPECIALLY) and roadside obstructions like poking logs, stumps or even the edge of the road are reacted to violently in the FFB as they would be in life, ripping the wheel from your hands if you are not gripping it as you should. RBR FFB requires, in my opinion the strength required by cars without power steering to drive on loose surfaces. It is in the realism provided by the potential of danger if you make a mistake or try to "get stupid" or knowingly drive unrealistically to get a shorter time. The appeal is not about making the FFB artificially hard. ![]() it is intense.įun thing, in VR, if you stand up you can walk around the car and dive your head in the engine compartment IF you can move around the real life room without collisions! Only game ever to make the wheelbase motor housing warm up a bit. I run a CSL DD with "Boost Kit" (ugh) and RBR FFB is legit dangerous. Perhaps include a Sim or eSports mode (what the heck ever) that removes all HUD and assists and unlocks the hardcore FFB. ![]() Truly, what I really want other than VR is for them to duplicate the FFB from Richard Burns Rally and make the damage model more accurate. The damage model is too forgiving for big sick wrecks, but will keep you honest on the "daily," meaning as you get better you learn how the game punishes you for abusing the gearbox or bouncing off of stage objects rather than really driving. REAL 3d, all HUD and assists off, cockpit view, manual gearbox, "hardcore" damage mode. Sometimes I just have to laugh at how awesome it is. I run VR (Reverb G2 v2), Fanatec Gear and a sim rig with a Buttkicker bass shaker at each corner. I mean mods would be great, but I have over 200 hours in DR 2.0 and it is my second favorite game/sim of all time after Shadow of the Colossus. Let us hope they learn from the disasterous release of Dakar Desert Rally. That said, at least keep them cosmetic.Ĭodies has learned a LOT about modern VR lately on F1 22 so if mature VR is not in on day one I will SORELY disappointed. Hopefully EA realizes that Rally fans are a different breed of cat and dispense with silly "life" add ons. All I can really grasp onto is something similar to the DR2.0 announcement to release of 4 months, where maybe we see an earliest possible announcement of December, and a release in April?Īnything else confirmed? Or let the speculation begin! :) My biggest worry is they wait to release it to coincide with the start of the 2024 World Rally Championship, a year later, in January of 2024, but let's hope not. However, there's also no way they're going to be able to release it before, or to coincide, with the start of the 2023 World Rally Championship, as that's likely to be January. Would be a bit rude to steal the limelight from KT Racing's last official WRC sim. Are there any specific dates we know of that could nicely coincide with an announcement/release? I think it's highly unlikely they're going to announce it before WRC Generations is released, which is scheduled for November 3rd. I doubt it's relevant, but Dirt Rally 2.0 was announced on, and released exactly 4 months later, on. Initially it was reported it would be using Unreal Engine 5, but in the last week, articles have come out saying it will actually use the engine originally intended for Dirt Rally 3.0.
